The first 13 of these units entered service with BHP Billiton (now BHP) in 2005. Subsequent batches were ordered, with the class forming the bulk of the BHP iron ore fleet in the Pilbara. ‘LC’ in the classification refers to ‘low clearance’. Two were destroyed in an accident in 2018.
