Five GWN Class units were purchased by Genesee & Wyoming Australia (now One Rail Australia) for service in iron ore haulage at Whyalla in South Australia. They entered service in 2013, replacing older locomotives previously used on these trains. In 2020 they were transferred to Maryborough in Queensland. The GWN Class shares the same design as Aurizon’s 4100 and ACN Classes, and Pacific National’s 83 Class. They are now owned by Magnetic Rail Group.
