Four units were obtained by Martinus Rail to assist with construction of the railway to the Carmichael Mine in Queensland. They were purchased from KiwiRail, where they had operated as the DC Class. Originally built as DA Class units by General Motors in Canada, they were rebuilt from 1978 to 1983, by Clyde Engineering in South Australia. In New Zealand their service was in general freight and passenger train haulage on both the North Island and the South Island. Two were sold to the Bowen Rail Company in 2022 and two have returned to New Zealand.
