Transperth’s B series Electric Multiple Unit train sets were introduced in 2004. Each set consists of a driving motor car at each end and a trailer car in the middle. Two sets can be coupled to operate as six-car trains. The BET cars have pantographs but are trailer cars because they do not have motors. Their maximum speed is 130 km/h. A total of 234 cars (78 three-car sets) are in service.
