Bowen Rail ordered a fleet of ten locomotives from Progress Rail in the United States, with all arriving in Australia in 2021. Another four were ordered in 2022, and a further two units arrived in 2024. The 4600 Class includes advanced safety equipment to make them easier to operate and improve braking compared to existing locomotives. They are used for hauling coal trains between the Carmichael Mine and the North Queensland Export Terminal, near Bowen.
