The 4100 class are a modified version of the 4000 class. Changes include the use of Mitsubishi inverters, rather than Siemens inverters used on the 4000 Class. The letter ‘e’ in the model designation refers to ‘enhanced’. They are used for coal haulage in Queensland. Twenty members of the class were transferred to Western Australia and reclassified as ACN Class. The 83 Class in service with Pacific National and the GWN Class in service with Magnetic Rail Group use the same GT42CU-Ace production model as the 4100 Class.
